Mahabub was born in 1972 in the state of Qatar in the Middle East. After one year, he came to Bangladesh with his family.
He studied classes 1-5 at Eklasul Rahman Government Primary School. He completed his high school studies at Bakolia Government High School. He achieved first division in SSC and studied HSC at Chittagong College, where he also achieved first division. He gained admission to Chittagong Medical in 1991. At Chittagong Medical, he was a political leader and social activist, initiating a campaign against drug addiction, which made him a target of drug lords and fundamentalist political activists. He was killed while completing his first year of M.B.B.S at Chittagong Medical College in 1992. Throughout his life, he always stood for the truth and worked for the well-being of society. As a doctor, he could have done more, but unfortunately, his life was cut short.
Every year, Chittagong Medical College pays tribute to his death anniversary on the 25th of September as a day of inspiration for social activities.
